After being caught in a bidding war between two record labels, Bad Boy Entertainment and Murder Inc., Rick Ross eventually signed a multi-million dollar deal with Jay-Z’s Def Jam Recordings. He then released his debut studio album Port of Miami, clinching the top spot of the Billboard 200 album chart, with his second album, Trilla, debuting at the same spot in 2008. A year later, Ross poured in some financial investments in establishing his own record label, Maybach Music Group.
